An introduction

An introduction to my 'professional' blog.

Due to the length of my Masters dissertation which is long and complicated enough to go grey after reading only half of it, I have decided to break my theories and research down into blogs.

I could try to write it up and have it published in an academic journal, but from the eyes of Charles Leadbeater, it would be almost hypocritical of me to do that, seeing as I am writing about a completely free marketing tool - social media. So why not share my ideas in the form I'm writing about?

So let me introduce myself:

I have just completed a Masters in Cultural Management where I specialised in Social Networking, Music Marketing and Promotion (dissertation title). I am currently living in Wiltshire, after spending five years in the wonderful city of Newcastle. I have lived in Atlanta, Georgia for a year and would love to go back to The States at some point, but for now I'm in the UK.

Right now? I'm looking for jobs in the online marketing sector. If you hear of anything, anywhere that looks fitting and pays more than apples, let me know!

In the meantime, I am going to write a series of blogs addressing my findings from the research I conducted during my study.

This is applied to music - a link to my cultural degree subject, but the strategies I hope to develop and understand through this research should lead to other genres and sectors being able to use my methods to develop their online marketing strategies.

I'm also lucky enough, due to this being a blog, to show my opinion a bit more overtly than an academic essay. Don't take offence - I will never intend to offend anyone in this blog.

I must also acknowledge that as this is partly academic, I will be referencing and linking other theorists in this area, but please forgive me if I forget to reference properly facts I have recalled from the months and months of agonising research conducted this year. If there is anything I’ve missed, or a question you want to ask me. Message me through Twitter or Facebook

I'll follow the usual research structure, introduction, context, methods, findings, conclusions etc. But I'll also comment and post what I have found, or my thoughts on topic related matter I have found on the web.

So time to get cracking!
